DC Reopens HomeSaver Foreclosure Prevention Program

To support its residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency has reopened its HomeSaver foreclosure prevention program.

Through the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Hardest Hit Fund (HHF), the DCHFA has approximately $4 million available to help homeowners who are delinquent on their mortgage payments or property-related expenses.

Non- escrowed property taxes, such as in the case of a reverse mortgage, may be paid through the remainder of the current billing cycle, according to the HomeSaver web page.

Eligible homeowners can receive a one-time payment of up to $60,000 to cover their property taxes. Applications will be accepted through the HomeSaver web page portal until May 14, 2021.
