Every year on June 15, communities around the world join together to raise awareness of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is an opportunity to renew your commitment to preserving the rights of older adults – including the basic human right to live with dignity, free from abuse and neglect.
It is not too late for you to participate in this important day. ACL’s National Center of Elder Abuse can help with:
- tools and tips including sample materials and outreach materials,
- action ideas to advance elder justice today and every day,
- a list of events around the country and around the world (make sure you add your event if you haven’t already!), and
- suggested social media content and graphics you can use to raise awareness.
There will be a free virtual event on June 15 to get the latest data and resources to promote elder justice all year long. You can register for the event at https://bit.ly/3NRe9f8
Don’t forget that NRMLA has its own consumer resource guide, Recognize and Report Elder Financial Abuse, which members are encouraged to share with clients and family members.
