www.nrmlaonline.org National Re verse Mortgage Lenders Association 26 Speaker Bios Melinda Opperman, Springboard Nonprofit d/b/a credit.org Melinda Opperman is the President of Springboard Non- profit Consumer Credit Management, Inc. d/b/a credit.org . She has been with the organization in an executive leadership position for 17 years and was appointed President in 2019. In her role, she is responsible for the mission, goals, policies and strategic direction of the agency. Melinda has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years, advocating and developing financial literacy programs, especially among the most disenfranchised. Melinda provides vision and leadership for the agency’s U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development - approved housing programs improving outcomes for homebuyers, homeowners, renters, and those overcoming homelessness. Loren Riddick, Thrive Mortgage Loren Riddick is a fifth generation native from the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. After earning an Associate Degree from Walters State Community College while play- ing basketball, Loren began a modeling and acting career in New York where he was featured in commercials and be- yond with the likes of the “Cosby Show” and “All My Chil- dren.” Foregoing a promising career in show business, Lor- en followed his heart by leaving New York to be with his true love, Missi, who was attending East Tennessee State University. After earning a second degree from ETSU, Loren entered the mortgage business in 1999 and today is the National Sales Director, Reverse Mortgage Lending, at Thrive Mortgage. Community involvement and giving back has always been a big priority for Loren. For the last 20 years, he has supplied a free basketball camp for well over 1,000+ area kids that focuses on not only lots of fun, but the hope of conveying important life skills to the girls and boys for the future. Joel Schiffman, Weiner Brodsky Kider PC Joel is resident in the firm’s Irvine CA office and focuses on the representation of banks, savings associations, mortgage banking companies and their holding companies and affiliates. His practice embraces a variety of matters relating to mortgage banking, including the marketing, origination, servicing and secondary market disposition of mortgage loans, with an emphasis on reverse mortgages. Joel is Co - General Counsel of NRMLA and serves on the association’s Ethics and Standards Committee. Prior to joining Weiner Brodsky Kider PC, Joel served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Financial Freedom Senior Funding Corporation, the nation’s largest reverse mortgage lender and servicer.
