NRMLA Annual Meeting 23 Jim McMinn, Longbridge Financial, LLC Jim McMinn is the Director of Training at Longbridge Financial, LLC. An industry veteran, Jim brings 25 years of experience in sales, training and leadership roles and has worked exclusively in the reverse mortgage industry since 2002. Throughout his career, Jim has worked with several major mortgage lenders including Wells Fargo, MetLife, and most recently, Finance of America Reverse. In his role with Longbridge, Jim specializes in teaching others about all things reverse – the products, the history, the regulations, and his proven sales techniques. He has a passion for building relationships and takes a special sense of pride in coaching Longbridge sales staff and its partners so that clients can improve their cash flow to have a better retirement. Jim Milano, McGlinchey Stafford PLLC Jim Milano helps financial institutions – mortgage companies, banking institutions, secondary market investors, consumer finance companies, and settlement service providers – comply with federal and state lending regulations, including the HECM program. Jim also assists home equity access startups with home equity and appreciation sharing products and sales leaseback programs: designing programs, obtaining regulatory approvals, and taking them through initial and subsequent capital raises. As one of the country’s leading lawyers in reverse mortgage law, Jim regularly reviews and designs proprietary reverse mortgage loan programs. Bob Niemi, Weiner Brodsky Kider PC Bob brings a unique perspective to achieving workable outcomes for complex matters. He uses his experience and relationships to advise lenders on a wide array of regulatory and compliance matters, including licensing, examination and acquisitions. Bob’s work in the mortgage industry began over 35 years ago and includes positions held at all levels of bank and non-bank mortgage companies. Bob served as Executive Director of the Ohio Mortgage Bankers Association Board and then Deputy Superintendent for the Ohio Division of Financial Institutions. During that time, he was elected to serve as the NMLS Ombudsman, appointed to the NMLS Policy Committee and also elected to the AARMR Board of Trustees where he served as Treasurer. Since returning to the industry side in 2016, Bob has earned the Certified Mortgage Banker accreditation from the MBA. Scott Norman, Finance of Reverse Mortgage LLC A 30-year mortgage banker, Scott Norman led the original campaign to amend the Texas Constitution to authorize reverse mortgages in the state in 1999, when he founded the Texas Association of Reverse Mortgage Lenders. He later closed the very first reverse mortgage loan in Texas. Norman has also testified numerous times before the legislatures of California, Arkansas and Minnesota to help craft legislation to protect senior homeowners around the country. He got his start in the mortgage business in Austin in 1993, later becoming President of the Austin Mortgage Bankers Association. Norman is currently the vice president of Field Retail and Government Relations for Finance of America Reverse and he serves as Co-Chairman of NRMLA’s Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 term. Tim Ofak, Weiner Brodsky Kider PC Tim represents companies in the financial services and mortgage industries nationwide in federal and state litigation and government investigations. Tim’s practice includes general business and commercial litigation, including contract disputes, defending consumer class actions, suits under state consumer protection statutes, and claims under various federal statutes, including the False Claims Act, RESPA, TILA, FCRA, TCPA, FDCPA, EFTA, and PFCRA.
