To help our members get to know one another, NRMLA publishes periodic member spotlights featuring professionals from across the reverse mortgage ecosystem.
Meet Jennifer Cosentini, Housing Director at Cambridge Credit Counseling, Agawam, MA. Jennifer brings nearly two decades of experience and a deep commitment to advancing long-term housing stability and financial well-being. Since joining Cambridge in 2006 and stepping into her leadership role in 2015, she’s had the privilege of leading a talented team of 14 HUD-certified counselors and overseeing programs that span homeownership, foreclosure prevention, reverse mortgage counseling, and rental support.
Jennifer also proudly serves on NRMLA’s Board of Directors and Education Committee, where she contributes to educational programming and regularly speaks at industry conferences as a subject matter expert in reverse mortgage counseling.
Why did you become a NRMLA member?
When I became a HECM counselor, I quickly realized that HUD’s continuing education requirements alone weren’t enough to stay fully informed in such a dynamic and complex industry. There are constant changes, policy updates, and emerging challenges that impact the clients we serve. Joining NRMLA felt imperative, not just to stay current, but to be part of a broader community committed to responsible lending, education, and advocacy in the reverse mortgage space. It’s a vital resource for anyone who’s passionate about doing this work well.
What do you consider to be your greatest career accomplishment to date?
I’m proud of leading a housing counseling team that consistently delivers high-quality, client-centered services while adapting to a rapidly changing housing landscape. From navigating the pandemic to launching new service lines like sale-leaseback counseling, I’ve been able to balance innovation with mission-driven work, and that’s something I take great pride in.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Do you have any hobbies or pursuits?
I love to create, whether it’s starting a new business idea, building a website from scratch, or developing content that connects with people. I find a lot of joy in bringing a vision to life and figuring out how all the pieces come together. I’m also drawn to big questions about life and purpose, so I spend some time exploring topics around personal growth and spirituality. It’s a balance of creative energy and inner curiosity that keeps me inspired outside of work.
What do you love most about working in the reverse mortgage industry?
What I love most is the passion that surrounds this industry. Whether it’s lenders or counselors, the people who get into reverse mortgages genuinely believe in the product, and it shows. I know I love talking about reverse mortgages, and it’s refreshing to be part of a community where others feel the same way. Having the opportunity to meet with this group a few times a year, share ideas, and stay engaged in something we’re all passionate about is incredibly energizing and fulfilling.
