Edelman Appointed Single-Family DAS at FHA

Sarah Edelman has joined the Federal Housing Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Single Family Housing after spending the past five years at Fannie Mae as senior director of Environmental and Social Impact.

In her role as DAS of Single-Family Housing, Edelman will have direct supervision over the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage program. Edelman replaces Julienne Joseph, who became a senior advisor for HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge.

“Sarah brings with her a wealth of housing and public policy experience and a history of service and community engagement,” FHA Commissioner Julia Gordon said in a social media post announcing the appointment. “With this solid background and a commitment to serving those who need the FHA program most, I know Sarah will be an exceptional addition to the Single-Family team, Housing, and HUD.”

Prior to joining Fannie Mae, Edelman served as a research fellow in the office of Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and as a policy analyst and director of housing policy at the Center for American Progress.
