President Trump signed into law a Continuing Resolution late Wednesday that funds most federal agencies, including the Department of Housing and Urban Development, through January 30, 2026.
Why it matters: The CR also includes language guaranteeing the reversal of federal layoffs initiated by the Trump administration during the shutdown, as well as a moratorium on future job cuts.
On October 10, the Office of Management and Budget fired over 300 people at HUD, including 36 people in the Office of Housing Counseling. NRMLA submitted letters to the leadership of the Senate Banking Committee and House Financial Services Committee to seek their assistance in reversing the RIF due to the critical importance of counseling and the OHC in the HECM program.
