FHA Updates Appraiser Roster Policies and Procedures

The Federal Housing Administration published Mortgagee Letter 2025-24 to revise policies and procedures governing appraiser roster management within FHA Connection (FHAC).

Why it matters: HUD says the updates are designed to strengthen the accuracy and reliability of the FHA Appraiser Roster and ensure that all participating appraisers continue to meet FHA eligibility requirements.

ML 2025-24 includes updates to the:

  • Appraiser roster application form
  • Documentation requirements for tracking state appraiser certifications
  • Renewal process
  • Post-approval requirements
  • Remedial education requirements
  • Removal of appraisers from the roster

What’s next: The provisions of ML 2025-24 took immediate effect and apply to all Single-Family Title II forward mortgage and Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) programs.
